SEGA announce PSO's true sequel, but
there's no Nintendo love. In news that is bound to amaze in some
ways. SEGA have announced the 'true' sequel to the inspiring Dreamcast MMORPG Phantasy Star Online. Platform specifics:
regarding the last few Gamecube incarnations and Sonic Team head Yuji Naka publically stating that Sonic Team fans will need
Nintendo's purple box, many would have been dead set on Phantasy Star Universe appearing on Nintendo.
It appears Phantasy
Star Universe will be heading to PC, PlayStation 2 and XBOX, with no Gamecube version currently in plans.
Sonic Team
is set to manage development of the game, to continue the legacy that was set in the original Dreamcast game. No doubt many
Gamecube fans waiting solely for Sonic Team games will be quite vocal about this decision.

The Phantasy Star Universe trailer contained only prerendered computer-generated footage starring characters and environments
that looked stylistically similar to those seen in the recent Phantasy Star Online games. We observed one character fighting
monsters with electroblades, another animallike warrior speeding through a desert environment, and a purple-haired girl who
resembled Phantasy Star II's .The Phantasy Star series began aeons ago on the Sega Master System. After four popular single-player
RPGs, the series took a multiyear hiatus and then reemerged on the Dreamcast in the form of Phantasy Star Online.
